Terms of Service

1. The Service

RuneTD ("we," "us," "the Service") is a free, browser-based pixel roguelike game. You can play as a Guest with a local save, or create an account (via Google Sign-In or email) to save progress across devices and access multiplayer features as they launch.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service. RuneTD is not directed at children under 13 — see our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Accounts

• You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure (e.g. your Google account or the email address you sign in with). RuneTD is passwordless by design — we never ask for a password.
• You may not share, sell, or transfer your account to another person.
• One account per person. We may suspend accounts used to circumvent bans or exploit the game.
• You can delete your account and associated data at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how.

4. Virtual items & currency

• Gold, Platinum, Essence, gear, and all other in-game items exist only within RuneTD and have no real-world monetary value. They cannot be exchanged, sold, or redeemed for real money or cash equivalent.
• The Service is currently free to play. If paid features are introduced in the future, separate terms will apply to those purchases and you'll be notified before anything is charged.
• We may add, remove, rebalance, or reset in-game items, currencies, or progress at our discretion, including during testing or major updates.

5. Acceptable use

When multiplayer chat and social features are live, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or hatefully target other players.
• Share illegal content, or content that sexualizes or exploits minors — this includes usernames, chat messages, and character customization.
• Use cheats, bots, exploits, or automation to gain an unfair advantage.
• Attempt to access another player's account, or interfere with the Service's operation (e.g. attacks on our servers, reverse-engineering to attack other players).
• Impersonate RuneTD staff or other players.

We may remove content, mute, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion, with or without notice for serious violations.

6. User-generated content

Anything you type into the game (character names, chat messages, once multiplayer chat launches) should follow the rules above. You retain ownership of anything you write, but you grant us a license to store, transmit, and display it as part of operating the Service (e.g. showing your chat message to other players in the same hub).

7. Intellectual property

The RuneTD name, logo, artwork, code, and design are owned by us (or licensed to us) and protected by copyright. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative commercial products from RuneTD's assets without permission. You're welcome to share screenshots, clips, and fan content of your own gameplay.

8. Disclaimers

RuneTD is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that save data will never be lost — back up your save from the Support menu if it matters to you. This is an actively developed, independently-run project; features, balance, and content may change without notice.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of save data or in-game progress. Since RuneTD is free to play and virtual items have no real-world value, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount (if any) you've paid us in the past 12 months.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service or your account for violating these terms, at our discretion.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
